About My Guidance Readings
Cartomancy (the art of card reading) has always held a great deal of mystery through the ages for those seeking to learn its message. It could even be seen as a map of how we can manage, balance and understand all aspects of our lives to give a more fulfilling outcome in many situations. It gives us windows into the past and the present as well as the many possible futures in order to help us understand how these all link together to form a whole picture of our lives.
It's worth noting: I am not a medium or a clairvoyant and I do not claim to be able to tell your fortune or know your future.
Instead, I offer guidance readings as a way to help you see your own truth and look for the answers within yourself. I have many years of experience, not only of reading the cards, but also of involvement in this human life - I am an empath and have observed much during my time on this world - which means I can offer you a balanced and wide-ranging viewpoint. Readings with me are very interactive and discussion-based - you are working with the cards as much as I am! That way, you gain a much deeper understanding of the messages you receive and will be able to apply them more effectively to your own life.
When I read for you, I will meet you where you are with no judgement and no discrimination. Your choices are your own and your experiences, reactions and interactions are completely valid. For many people, a guidance reading becomes an alternative point of reference, not to dictate to you what you must or must not do, but to offer choice and enable you to see how past and present situations may affect your future.
It is an individual, intuitive practice and one that gives me great pleasure to carry out.
The Guidance Tools I Use
TAROT
The Tarot is generally a deck of 78 cards consisting of a Major Arcana and a Minor Arcana. They are image-based and steeped in centuries of symbolism from many different cultures and belief systems. I usually use cards based around the traditional Rider-Waite deck which is the most commonly used system and perhaps the easiest to relate to.
Cards are drawn, seemingly at random, from the deck and placed in various patterns to form a picture. No two readings are the same and even though I base my readings around a traditional Celtic Cross spread, it doesn't always go according to plan so we trust the process and learn as we go!
ORACLE
Oracle cards are simple to use but can be a useful tool in divination. They tend to provide a more direct message given either by a single word or a simple phrase. This can either help to clarify a situation by providing an answer or sometimes to prompt a question which leads to a solution later on. The messages are usually very positive and uplifting so that, even in a negative situation, they offer you a way to see the positive and act as a prompt to help you see your way through.
Great for single card daily pulls, quick readings or in conjunction with a tarot reading, usually as a starter or a 'closing statement' to a reading... They can also be the basis for the formulation of an "affirmation" that you can take away with you and put into daily practice after your reading.
I even sometimes use oracles at the start of a yoga session!
RUNES
I work with the runes of The Elder Futhark, which were originally used as a system for writing and communicating by the Germanic peoples in Northern Europe and Scandinavia. The word Rune means both 'letter' and 'secret'. Legend tells of how Odin, The Allfather, descended to the base of the Great Tree, Yggdrasil, to seek the meaning of the runes. In order to gain this profound knowledge, he hanged himself upside down and denied himself any comfort for nine days until eventually the runes gave up their secrets to him. The runic symbols each hold a sound and a meaning and the runes are 'cast' in order to gain insights from them. Their meanings are much more earthy, grounded and often a little more elusive, in my opinion, and a rune reading can be very powerful.
PENDULUM
A pendulum is a great way to get a quick "yes or no" answer to a question. Once you have established how the pendulum is going to behave to indicate a positive or a negative, you can ask for the answer you seek and wait to see which way the pendulum will swing.
SCRYING
This slightly more intense method of divination requires a scrying tool and a light trance-like state or altered awareness. The process begins by the reader sending a message to the unconscious mind that we seek information beyond the reach of our senses and conscious awareness. The mind will then begin to project images and symbols onto the scrying tool which must then be interpreted by the reader.
Some examples of scrying tools include (but are not limited to) crystal balls, scrying bowls (water), obsidian mirrors, tea leaves or coffee grounds, candle flames, smoke and/or fire, lakes or ponds.
